How Many Months Do You Homeschool?

As I am finalizing the setting up of each class that will be launched in August for E=mc2, I thought it would be fun to explore homeschooling year around verses the standard school year.
When we first started to homeschool, I set the boys up on the typical nine month schedule. This worked well for us as this allowed me to have a much needed summer break. However, as the boys grew and "life happened" such as losing a son during the second trimester, the nine months migrated to ten months...and ten months migrated to eleven months....and then the next thing I knew, we were schooling year around.
With Middle School came 4-H and baseball and so I continued to homeschool twelve months a year. Now that I have graduated two students, I am trying to get back to the nine month a year schedule. Why? Because I do need a summer break. I need time to "recharge" my batteries and enthusiasm as a mom and the teacher of my three youngest children. I have taken this summer off as a homeschool mom and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to starting our school year in two weeks! I am almost done buying the curriculum that we will be using and really the only thing left to do is have my 16 year old dual enroll in college. Wow! That means that I really have only two children left in my homeschool! Nothing like having a reality check as I am writing a blog post!
So how many months a year do I homeschool? How ever many months that season of my life demands...which is the beauty of homeschooling: flexibility to do what is BEST for my homeschool at all times!
