Student at UWF: Professor Bolen has by far been the best math instructor I’ve had in my entire educational career. While in her class, she taught each section thoroughly during the lectures every class. One of the many things I enjoyed about her classes were that she tried to make every lesson as relevant as possible so her students would understand, and even defining the real-world applications of each lesson and equation. Not to mention how much effort she puts into helping her students succeed.
Student at UWF: I dreaded having to take statistics—which was required for my major. I have always struggled with math and remember being very anxious the first day of class. I have a learning disability and sometimes transpose my numbers—abstract concepts do not come easy to me. I was the student who was embarrassed to ask questions in case the problem or concept was very clear to everyone else—everyone else but me. Ms. Bolen recognized my hesitation and uneasiness. She met me before and after class to make sure that I had a chance to ask questions. She explained concepts tirelessly and made sure that I understood the relevance of what I was learning and how to apply it. She was not only passionate about the subject matter but incredibly patient with me as I worked one problem after the other. Ms. Bolen refused to let me give up—and for that I can never thank her enough. She went over and above and made sure that she was accessible to all of her students. She made me excited to learn—which is an incredible feat for someone afraid of math.

She took time out of her actual day to email us back if we had questions; hold study sessions and post videos of her working out problems. Student at UWF: Absolutely amazing teacher. She goes far above and beyond for all of her students making sure that thy have every single resource possible to pass the class. She holds multiple study sessions and really makes sure we know the material before the exams and goes out of her way before each exam to make step by step videos for reviews to help us. She really genuinely cares about the success of her students.
Student at UWF: Mrs. Bolen was outstanding. This is the second class I took with her and I wish she instructed all math courses. She is extremely helpful. She is available all of the time and helps in any way possible. She holds many workshops at various times to make sure all students can participate if they want to.
