Student/Parent Agreement

Through our pilot program this past year, I learned that it is extremely important for the student and parents to understand from the beginning of the the school year, what is necessary to succeed with an online course.  In this agreement, you will see areas listed that directly effect the student's ability to successfully complete any online course.

For my courses, I have found the greatest influence for a successful school year is the active participation of a parent ensuring that the assigned work is actually being done according to the schedule.   Honestly, that one item has made the biggest difference for the student.

So to help with this, I have formed an agreement that must be signed by the student and at least one parent for the student to be enrolled in my course.  This simply indicates that the student and  the parents will take responsibility for the student completing the assignments in a timely fashion and according the the course schedule.

One of the biggest challenges with Common Core is the "pressure" to get  students through a grade or class.  This "pressure" is inappropriately applied to the instructor when in reality there is no instructor anywhere that can force a student to do homework, attend class or study.  And yet, the public schools are financially penalized when students do not chose to participate in the education process and thus fail a grade or class.  It is not the teacher's fault that the student chose not to do the work; chose not to study; chose not to learn and gain knowledge.  But it is the teacher and/or the school that receives a financial penalty because "x" number of students did not get promoted or graduate.

With this agreement, the student and parents will acknowledge that it is their responsibility to work the program as laid out and not the teacher's responsibility to keep the student participating in the daily lessons.  E=mc   is all about transferring knowledge to the student who wants to learn as opposed to getting students "through the program".  This makes E=mc   a unique program because all students enrolled want to learn and are eager to learn!

choose the five day agreement or four day agreement based on the course you are enrolling.
